I see that they have arrested a suspect in this murder. An undocumented (illegal) alien. He had been an "employee of good standing for FOUR years",on a large family farm owned by Republican donors and the past president of the farm bureau. Yes I know Dems do this also.
I have not read a single word that these good patriotic Americans have been charged with a single violation or crime. Why is that? Could it be that the Commerce Department and by extension your local chamber spends millions on lobbying our Rrepresentatives to wink wink nod nod any legislation or enforcement of existing laws to prevent this. With the technology available today, digital ID, retina Scanning, other biometric measures, there is no reason whatsoever that any ineligible person be employed in any capacity. However bring up the subject and suggest 100% enforcement on employers and watch your congress critter squirm shuffle and run away! I have approached my republican rep, (Tom Reed) about this in a town hall and was ignored. I have emailed both Schumer and Gillibrand and got nothing but crickets.
If we are serious about tight borders and an orderly immigration process why are we tolerating this?

If we are serious about tight borders and an orderly immigration process why are we tolerating this? Exactly right! Of course, all the Right hears is that an illegal immigrant murdered someone, which further justifies their hatred for anyone whom they suspect might not be from this country. Good for you calling out the Dems on this too. In the end, most of the current crop of legislators suck. We need fresh faces, term limits and restrictions such as Elizabeth Warren is proposing regarding a prohibition on lobbying once they're out of Congress.

tight borders and an orderly immigration process Just political rhetoric, designed to appease the masses. The wink n' nod and looking the other way for employers to get their cheap slave labor is what is called "doing business".

Suspect in Mollie Tibbetts' killing gave false ID to employer www.cnn.com/2018/08/22/us/mollie-tibbetts-iowa-student-autopsy/index.htmlpart of the link.. CNN)The man accused of pursuing and killing 20-year-old Mollie Tibbetts had worked four years at an Iowa dairy farm based on false identification, his employer said Wednesday. "What we learned in the last 24 hours is that our employee was not who he said he was," said Dane Lang, the co-owner and manager of Yarrabee Farms. That revelation came about an hour after the employee, Cristhian Bahena Rivera, was arraigned on a first-degree murder charge for the killing of Tibbetts. His bond was set at $5 million and his next court hearing is scheduled for August 31. Tibbetts went missing last month after going out for an evening run in Brooklyn, Iowa, and her disappearance launched an extensive search in the region. On Tuesday, Rivera -- who confessed to following her as she ran on a country road -- led authorities to the field where a body believed to be hers was buried under corn stalks, officials said. Rivera, a 24-year-old Mexican man who officials said came to the US illegally, largely remained silent in court, answering yes or no questions in Spanish through an interpreter. His defense attorney, Allan Richards, said Rivera came to the US as a minor, held a job in the community and has no prior criminal record. Rivera worked for the past four years at Yarrabee Farms. In applying for the job, Rivera provided a state ID and Social Security card that was verified through the Social Security Administration's verification system, according to Lang. But those forms of ID were not of Rivera, he said. "All of us are saddened by the tragic death of Mollie and the realization that one of our coworkers was involved," he said. Lang said that Rivera was an employee in good standing who came to work on time and got along with his coworkers. Neither he nor his employees noticed anything suspicious about Rivera's behavior after Tibbetts vanished, he said. "This guy stayed around for 35 days after he did this," Lang said. "Nobody noticed anything different." Yarrabee Farms is owned in part by Craig Lang, a prominent Iowa Republican who ran for Iowa secretary of agriculture this summer. US Citizenship and Immigration Services spokesperson Michael Bars told CNN that Rivera did not make any requests for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, or DACA, that might have provided him legal status in the US. "We have found no record in our systems indicating he has any lawful immigration status," Bars said. Officials did ============================================================= So much for what robusta posted.

Could be true. Fake IDs have been around for years. It could also be a handy excuse for someone who wanted to employ illegals and not be held responsible for breaking the law.

Free food, Free medical, Dental, bed, roof over his head all on the taxpayers back. Or my choice,,, Death penalty. If I had it my way, all murders would meet death that same exact way they dealt death.

None of those listed ID's are acceptable for proof of authorization to work in the US. There is no indication that the employers did any due diligence before employing a murderer. Please go this link for an overview of the proper procedure.www.uscis.gov/i-9-central.
So Montana are you saying that the employer bears zero responsibility in this? I gather from your attitude that you hate foreigners in our country. There are laws against hiring undocumented persons, are you giving them a pass? Are you at all hypocritical?

This is a two edged sword. People should not hire illegal immigrants but it is not up to them to patrol the borders and send them back. A lot of illegals are working in our country and they are not murders! People who hire them should face a stiff fine. Hit them where it hurts, in their pockets! This murderer just put a feather in Trump's cap! nkat

No it is not a two edged sword. We as progressives are constantly ,in the undocumented immigrant battle are constantly slapped with, "What part of Illegal do you not understand?". What part of "Hiring an undocumented,(illegal) national did these farmers not understand. Our government has set up a process that must be adhered to when hiring foreign nationals. These farmers and thousands of other capitalists nation wide (IMO mostly republicans)ignore or pervert this established process for their own ends.
The so called financial penalty for violation has become like many other government penalties, nothing but a "Tax Stamp" for avoided statutory responsibilities. IMHO violaters need to be hit with massive crippling fines and cease and desist orders carryng the weight of prison time.

People who hire them should face a stiff fine. Hit them where it hurts, in their pockets! There are already laws on the books for doing this, the GOP doesn't want to discourage "free enterprise" so they focus the attention on the workers themselves.

There are laws against hiring undocumented persons, are you giving them a pass? Are you at all hypocritical? No, I am not giving the employer a pass. The employer in this case followed the law. I ask you are you giving the illegal that killed that women a pass? What you gather is wrong...unless you think because I believe in our immigration laws I hate foreigners...believe what you want. It seems you are the one that is on the side of the illegal that killed that young women.

oldmontana , have you not been listening when people have pointed out to you, that your favorite media source to quote from, The Washington Times has a heavily twisted bias to the Right? Also, Your statement: It seems you are the one that is on the side of the illegal that killed that young women. shows that your interpretation of words and events is severely compromised.
