I still have mixed feelings about Comey.. I hate him for what he did to Clinton's campaign just 10 days before the election.. I think he did hurt her.. or was the final nail. So in my mind.. He contributed to the disaster that is the Trump Presidency.. On the other hand.. he has damaged Trump.. or rather Trump has damaged Trump and Comey just talked about it.. So I give him kudos there. My feelings about Comey are ...well...complicated.

He is a man of his word. He made a commitment to Congress to inform them if the email investigation was re-opened. When it was reopened, he honoured his commitment. Yes, it was damaging to Clinton but he was neither on her side nor on Trump's.
IMO his commitment now is to truth telling. I would take his word on anything before I would trust a single statement from the mouth of #45.

Had Comey waited to reveal the new e-mails, the GOP base would have kept that issue front and center throughout a Clinto presidency. There would have been unending Congressional investigations. Her presidency would have been held as illegitimate by the GOP majorities in Congress. I believe the nightmare our Country would have undergone had Comey withheld the issue until after the November election could have had an even more damaging effect than this disastrous Trump presidency. The ONLY thing Comey could have done was to release what the FBI had discovered. He did that, full well knowing the fallout could be severe... but not as severe had it been withheld. The GOP applauded the revelations, assuming that anointed their 'hero' as King. Not one of the GOP base ever dreamed this imbecile would wreck havoc on their Party as he has. I voted for Clinton. That vote was not because I felt she would experience a great presidency. It's because, of the two choices, she was the best choice. And, I am convinced the shouts for impeachment by the likes of Gowdy would have been loud and long... even without cause. We got what we got. I support Comey. Let the truth come out. Let justice prevail and remove this idiot, if not before, during the 2020 election cycle. In the meantime... AGAIN... the only hope for this Country right now is to make certain we see a Democratic majority in the House... and hopefully the Senate as we begin 2019.

All Comey did was inform Congress, as promised; he didn't make a public 'splash' about it. That was a decision made by Congress, knowing the information would harm Clinton, and boost Trump's chances of winning. Dirty Politics! It is technically inaccurate, and unfair, to pin responsibility for that on Comey.
P.S. - I plan to buy Comey's book!

there have been some negative things written in main stream media[cnn] about comey and there may be some validity to it.he probably shouldn't get into an insult-o-rama with trump.trump and his bunch created that art form.i think comey should have waited until we had mueller's report, cohen's flip and stormy's legal contretemps before releasing his book.now he's going to be dragged through the mud.

Usually, the Publisher decides when a book should be released, based on the potential for high sales. The Author normally has no say on the timing.

Comey knew potentially damaging information on both candidates...he came forward with only one....that info later proved to be nothing......now the country suffers from the incompetence and corruption of Trump.
I think Comey most certainly contributed to Hillary Clinton's loss.
